What Page of Wands means

The courts begin with someone who just arrived. A young figure in bright clothes and a feathered cap holds a wand upright and studies it with total fascination, desert stretching empty behind them, and the emptiness is the good news: nothing built yet, everything possible. Every court card is a way of carrying fire, and the Page carries it by learning it: someone six weeks into a new obsession, still bad at it and completely undeterred.

Enthusiasm is the whole engine here, and the card treats that as sufficient. As advice, the Page says start, be curious, and don't wait to be good, because the obsession itself is doing the teaching. The excitement is the point.

A teenager discovers photography and spends every weekend taking pictures.

One kid signs up for every art class available, wanting to try them all.

Someone picked up a guitar last month and already wants to start a band.

What's in the picture

    Holding the wand uprightA young person holds a wand in both hands, studying it with fascination. Not wielding it: examining it, like someone holding a new instrument.

    The upward gazeThey look up at the wand, not out at the horizon. Their attention is on the thing itself: the idea, the passion, the potential. Pure curiosity, not yet a plan.

    The desert landscapeThe ground is dry and barren, pyramids or hills in the distance. Not a lush, established world. The Page hasn't built anything yet: raw, open possibility.

    The feathered cap and bright clothingThe Page wears a feathered cap and vibrant clothes: youthful, expressive, a little showy. They're not hiding it. An unself-conscious excitement about them.

Reversed

Blocked. Four drafts of the message, and not one of them sent.

Internal. Lit up about it, and the news goes no further than you.

Excess. New enthusiasms every week, and last week's already forgotten.

Shadow. Loving the start of things so much that finishing feels like betrayal.

The court ladder in every suit runs Learning, Chasing, Embodying, Commanding, and the Page holds the first rung. Openness comes before skill here: a person arrives, and the learning is all still ahead. The same desert appears behind the next card, and what changes between them is pure velocity.
