What Ten of Pentacles means
Your great-grandparents' village and the box of their letters in someone's attic are an inheritance, with or without money. This card covers descent and family records: where you come from, as well as what you'll leave.
Two dogs nose at the elder's hand, and the child, resting a hand on one of them, watches closely. Grandparents and grandchildren often find each other this way, over a dog or a story, while the generation in between is busy running things.
When you'd see this
Teaching your kid the bread recipe you grew up on, you sound like your mother.
When a cousin needs a cosigner, you're the one they call now.
The food co-op you helped found in your twenties is still open, and people half your age run it.
What's in the picture
-
1
Three generations visible in one sceneAn elder, a couple, and a small child: three generations in one frame. The largest zoom-out in the deck. Not about you: what your life is part of.
-
2
Ten pentacles in the Tree of LifeTen pentacles in a specific pattern, the Tree of Life from Kabbalah. This is the structure of the whole thing, not random abundance. Every piece in its place.
-
3
The elder, dogs at their kneesThe elder sits petting two dogs while life continues around them. At the edge of the scene, watching. The one who built all this, now witness more than actor.

4
The archway and coat of armsA stone archway and a family coat of arms: institutional permanence. Wealth that has become a name, a structure others will recognize. What lasts past you.
Reversed
Four ways to read this card reversed. Which one depends on the question.
Blocked. The whole estate is there but nobody has taken it up.
Internal. Three generations at the table and you're the only one counting.
Excess. So much to pass on that nobody can carry any of it.
Shadow. What you inherited came with instructions about who to be.
Where it sits in the suit
The Suit of Pentacles, ace to king
Ten numbered beats, then four people who carry them.
In the Six of Pentacles, a merchant weighs out coins for strangers who ask. Here wealth goes down a family, to a child too young to know what it's worth. The merchant decides one coin at a time, but a family settles its wealth years ahead.
Reading a card is a skill, not a lookup
